How the calculation works.
The calculator keeps three pieces of planning math separate:
- Total call spend = price per billable call × billable call count.
- Estimated bound auto policies = billable call count × bind rate ÷ 100.
- Call spend per bound policy = total call spend ÷ estimated bound auto policies.
For example, 100 billable calls at $40 cost $4,000. If 10% of those calls produce a bound auto policy, that is 10 estimated policies and $400 in call spend per policy.
When call count is above zero, cost per policy also equals call price divided by the bind rate expressed as a decimal. At the same call price and bind rate, buying more calls changes your total spend and estimated policy count; it does not change the estimated cost per policy.
See the effect of your bind rate.
This table uses a hypothetical $40 billable-call price and a batch of 100 calls. It is a mathematical comparison, not an industry benchmark, an AcquireCalls quote, or a forecast.
| Billable-call-to-bind rate | Estimated policies | Call spend per policy |
|---|---|---|
| 5% | 5 | $800.00 |
| 10% | 10 | $400.00 |
| 15% | 15 | $266.67 |
| 20% | 20 | $200.00 |
Use a call-to-bind rate, not a quote-to-bind rate.
These rates have different denominators. If 100 billable calls lead to 40 quotes and 10 bound auto policies, your quote-to-bind rate is 25%, but your billable-call-to-bind rate is 10%. Enter 10% in this calculator.
Use results from a comparable call program and a consistent follow-up window when available. If you do not have a measured rate, test several clearly labeled assumptions. Fractional policy estimates represent averages in a plan; actual policy counts are whole numbers.
What this estimate includes.
The result includes call spend only. It does not include staffing, overhead, payment fees, cancellations, chargebacks, or the value of renewals and additional policies. It does not estimate profit or establish what you should pay for calls.
For a completed campaign, calculate actual call spend per policy by dividing the matched campaign’s final spend after applicable credits by its actual bound auto policies. Keep the call batch and policy follow-up window consistent.
At a 0% bind rate, there are no estimated bound policies to divide by. The calculator displays a dash for cost per policy.
Review the worked call-pricing comparison before choosing your assumptions.

Use the insurance call conversion calculator to work from delivered, answered, quoted, and converted call counts. That scorecard reports spend per converting call; this planning tool estimates spend per bound auto policy.
